2023 SMAA Provincial Championships

Welcome! We are excited to be back in action and offering a provincial level championship tournament.

• Saturday, April 29, 2023
• Registration/Check in: 8:00-9:15am
• Officials Meeting: 9:15am
• Bow in - Tournament Start: 9:45am

For this year athletes must:

• For all divisions ASIDE from grappling...Have attended ONE (1) SMAA sanctioned tournament and placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th at one of the tournaments they attended to qualify. (also see grappling below)  . 
• Athletes will only qualify for the divisions (Sparring, Forms, etc.) that they placed in.  (Ex. If an athletes placed in sparring, but not Forms, they can only take part in sparring at Provincials).
• Friendly reminder that regardless of what age/belt division the athlete competed in to qualify for Provincials, they will compete in the appropriate age/belt division they are the day of the tournament.  (Ex.  If an athlete placed in the top four in 12-Year-Old, Yellow Belt Point Sparring to qualify for Provincials, but is 13 and an Orange belt the day of Provincials, they will compete in 13-Year-Old, Orange Belt Point Sparring).
• ALL athletes must be a resident of Saskatchewan.

• For Ground Arts (grappling), since this is brand new, any athlete (from Saskatchewan), who wishes to complete can do so.   The tournament will follow IBJJF Rules. (see rules page)

• The registration deadline for Provincials will be April 24th, 2023 16:59 pm

NOTE: NO WALK IN COMPETITORS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!! All competitors must be pre-registered and PAID before April 24, 2023 16:59.
