·         Martial arts shoes or closed toe runners shall be worn by all competitors.

·         The competition area shall be marked and all 4 corners will be supervised by knowledgeable personnel to prevent any other people from entering the area where LIVE BLADES are being used and to act as a buffer of any flying debris.

·         Each competitor will attempt to cut a vertical target 3 times as follows:

First cut is a diagonal 45˚ downward cut Right to Left

Second cut is a diagonal 45˚ downward cut Left to Right

Third cut is a diagonal 45˚ upward cut Right to Left

·         Grand Champion Points are awarded for successful cuts: eg. 3 clean cuts = 3 pts.

·         Competitors may step or move their feet as necessary for balance and cut transition.

·         Cuts will be judged on: closest to a straight 45˚ angle (no arc on target material), cleanliness of each cut (cutting not breaking of target material), speed from start to finish and smooth transition (weapon control) between each cut.

·         Competitors are permitted ONE attempt to perform  all 3 cuts. In the event that any of the cuts are not completed (cut through), their weapon becomes stuck in the target or the target is pulled out of the stand, the competitor and timer shall stop any further attempts and be recorded as incomplete.

·         In the event of a tie (all 3 cuts) for angles, cleanliness of cuts and transition smoothness, the competitor with the least amount of cutting time will be declared the winner.
